The Cost Controller will be based within the finance department and report to the Senior Cost Controller.

In particular you will:

• provide support to the Legal and Business Affairs (LBA) team and to various budget holders within S4C. The LBA Team works closely with the Commissioners ensuring that content commissioned / licensed or acquired is negotiated, contracted and administered effectively and efficiently;

• assist the Financial Accountant and the LBA Team with all aspects of finance relating to programming, multimedia material and other general business contracts. This will include obtaining the relevant authorisation and processing payments for the budgets you are responsible for administering and ensuring that the correct details are made available to other departments;

• prepare regular reports confirming programme costs, transmission hours, stock, payments and commitments.

• process the relevant payments to production companies, actors, writers, musicians and other contributors for second transmission and on different platforms in accordance with union agreements and timescales;

• research and respond to queries from actors, writers, musicians and other contributors regarding any payments made to them;

• assist in the preparation of reports to collecting societies (eg PRS, MCPS, DUK) and Ofcom as necessary;

• assist with content production audits as necessary

• maintain monthly departmental budget spreadsheets using Business 1, Vision and Excel and monitor for accuracy;

• maintaining the sales ledger on Business 1 including raising sales invoices and dealing with queries;

• administering orders, payments and expenses through the Idocuments ordering system and SAP B1;

• preparing weekly banking and cash sales using Business 1 and Excel spreadsheets and depositing weekly with the bank;

• assisting the Financial Accountant with the year-end process;

• developing new spreadsheets to aid budgetary control and preparation of ad hoc reports as required by the Financial Accountant, LBA Team or Head of Content Finance;

• liaising with S4C suppliers and all other departments within S4C;

• ad hoc reporting and miscellaneous duties as necessary.

Working hours: 35¾ hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is expected, including working outside of normal office hours, on some weekends and bank holidays.
Probationary period: Everyone that is appointed by S4C must undertake a six-month probationary period in order to review performance, behaviour and attendance. S4C reserves the right to terminate a contract during the probationary period, with one week’s notice. 
Annual Leave: In addition to statutory bank holidays, you will be entitled to 26 days of paid annual leave.
Pension: Employed members of staff have the right to join a Group Personal Pension Scheme, in line with the terms of any existing scheme that has been amended from time to time. If you become a member of the Group Personal Pension Scheme, S4C will contribute 10% of your basic salary to the scheme. You will be expected to contribute 5%.
