Who we’re looking for

An experienced communications professional with a background in campaign or account management and excellent planning, evaluation and strategic communications skills. Building on our award winning campaigns and our focus on colleague engagement, you will be central to our work to support the company as we deliver on our customer promises and build the trust of our customers every day. With proven leadership capability and the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation, you will drive the work of the team providing advice, guidance and challenge to deliver compelling communications campaigns that support our business priorities.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Own and embed campaign planning approach across the communications team and wider business.
  • Own and embed evaluation approach across the communications team reporting through a central evaluation hub.
  • Through an effective communications planning grid, work with colleagues across the team and wider organisation to map Welsh Water’s key announcements, publications, speeches and events against the external environment.
  • To provide effective communications advice and develop and deliver compelling communications campaigns.
  • Plan and manage the delivery of our communications priorities and plans.
  • Build key relationships across the organisation, building virtual teams internally and partnerships externally.
  • Identify and segment audiences, gather insight ensuring this informs campaigns and communication activities.
  • Support the wider communications team in undertaking audience segmentation for campaigns and ensuring handlings strategies meet the needs of those audiences.
  • Own the corporate standards, approach and platforms such as ways of working, brand guidelines and evaluation approach, providing advice to the wider team and organisation, challenging where appropriate.
  • Provide the strategic overview to spot opportunities to advance our communications objectives and identify and manage risks.
  • Ensure campaigns can be effectively evaluated to meet agreed objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, management, development and support to direct team.
  • Own, develop and deliver the company’s brand-builder campaigns.
  • Act as the Welsh Water brand guardian, advocating both brand and values in all external communication activities.
  • Managing contracts with external companies/agencies supporting the work of the team adhering in full with the company’s procurement rules.
  • As part of the Welsh Water communications senior management team, provide insight, support and advice to colleagues to ensure delivery of the team’s objectives.
  • Provide indirect line management and oversight to campaign owners outside of the central communications team.
  • Provide essential 24/7 press office service and support to gold and silver operational incidents as part of the on-call out of hours rota.
  • Undertake line management activities in line with company requirements including PDR management,
  • Health and Safety, procurement and financial management.
