The Role

Applications are welcome for a Welsh Language Policy Advisor to Interpret and apply Welsh Government language policy and legislation (the Welsh Language ((Wales)) Measure) to the work of CITB across all business functions, leading each to integrate practices and methods: to ensure the organisation’s legal compliance; fulfil its contractual obligations; and preserve its reputation. As the sole holder of this post within the organisation, be the knowledgeable officer on its every aspect.

About you

Applicants must be well organised, able to work with minimum supervision and confident with communicating with senior colleagues and external organisations.

Essential requirements

• A relevant degree or equivalent vocational qualification
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in Welsh, to a level which allows the checking of accuracy of own work and that of others.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills, instigating effective persuasion by communicating and earning respect from colleagues at all levels
• Ability to challenge language, behaviours, processes and resistance from others at all levels including senior management
• IT and web-based skills (use of content management systems and social media)
• Ability to interpret and apply complex information and present it in an understandable manner to a range of audiences
• Extensive experience of working with compliance issues relating to the Welsh language
• Effective planning and organisational skills which ensure best use and self-regulation of time.
• Knowledge of the political and legislative landscape in Wales
• Ability to use personal beliefs and values to benefit the organisation
• Ability to demonstrate an insight into the behaviour and interests of others with an ability to translate this into meaningful actions for the organisation. Work sensitively with confidential information.
