Contract: Permanent, full time. Requests for alternative working patterns, including Part Time, Job share and secondments, may be discussed at interview.

Relocation expenses may be payable for permanent appointments

Salary and benefits: Band 5 £48,650 - £58,185 per annum
We offer 30 days annual leave (in addition to public holidays and up to three days office closure at Christmas), flexible working arrangements and membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
The post may also attract a recruitment and retention allowance based on skills and ability.

Qualifications Wales is an independent regulator of qualifications and the qualification system in Wales. It is a Welsh Government Sponsored body and is responsible for ensuring that qualifications and the qualifications system are effective in meeting the reasonable needs of learners in Wales, and for promoting public confidence in these.
The Head of Qualification Standards will have oversight of the setting and maintaining of qualification standards in Wales to enable Qualifications Wales to be able to assure itself and the public that qualification standards are maintained and learners in Wales achieve fair qualification results. The post holder will be expected to drive forward the development and delivery of Qualifications Wales’ strategy to ensure that qualification standards are appropriately and securely set and maintained in Wales and inspire public confidence.
The Head of Qualification Standards will have oversight of each examination series including working with external stakeholders and other UK regulators. The Head of Qualification Standards will lead several work strands including comparability of qualification standards over time and improving awarding processes. Working with the communications function, the Head of Qualification Standards will be responsible for planning a programme of work to improve public understanding of exam processes and qualification standard setting and maintenance.
