ITV Cymru Wales is looking for a Journalist (Welsh Language Programmes) to work as part of its Welsh language current affairs team based in Cardiff. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate journalist to join the current affairs production team, working across the Welsh language brands ‘Y Byd ar Bedwar’, ‘Y Byd yn ei Le’ and our digital output. You will have extensive knowledge of current affairs in Wales and the World, with a proven track record as a journalist, investigating current affairs stories for broadcast or digital. 

You will have an abundance of story ideas, creative flair in your storytelling, the ability to research thoroughly and to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. The ability to speak and write in Welsh to a high standard is essential.

Role Criteria

  • Proven track record in journalistic originality and creativity, ideally with a minimum of 2 years experience in the industry.
  • The ability to generate, research and develop original ideas, taking a creative approach to storytelling, treatments and production.
  • Excellent current affairs knowledge of Welsh, UK and International affairs.
  • The ability to work to deadlines is crucial and proven track record of working under pressure is essential.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Compliance and Legal issues Strong understanding of digital audiences and the ability to develop content tailored to a variety of digital platforms. Strong Welsh language skills (accurate spelling and grammar essential)
  • The ability to be self motivated but also to work well in a team environment.
  • Experience of basic editing and/or filming desirable, or ability to show willingness to learn using new technologies.
  • Good understanding of diversity and inclusion
