About Us
We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales. We focus on publicly funded qualifications, including GCSEs, A levels and vocational qualifications. We’re looking for a Head of Corporate Governance to join us on a full-time, permanent basis at our offices in Newport.

The Role
As the Head of Corporate Governance, you will ensure that we have, and can demonstrate, the highest standard of effective governance. Ensuring a governance structure is in place to support decision making, you will plan and administer all senior management meetings, connecting decision making, risk management, information flow and assurance processes.

Your role will also involve:
- Managing the controls and processes that provide assurance that we are fulfilling our obligations and are compliant
- Providing direct support to the Chair in relation to Board development and training
- Providing Board members with high quality support
- Acting as a sounding board to the Chair, individual Board members, Executive Team and staff
- Acting as the main contact for the Welsh Government sponsor team

About You
To be considered as the Head of Corporate Governance, you will need:
- Experience of working in a governance role
- Experience of providing wide ranging advice and guidance to senior management and handling sensitive issues
- Experience of managing formal relationships (i.e. with auditors, regulators, government sponsors or income providers etc.)
- Knowledge of governance, records and information management and audit best practice
- Knowledge of relevant UK and EU legislation for public bodies

Ideal candidates will also have a governance assurance qualification or course of relevant training.
